Process Vs Outcome

There is a very old interview of my favorite cricketer, the GOAT Mr. M S Dhoni triggered me to write about this topic in a different perspective.

What is important to prioritize Process Vs Outcome?

In this era of social media, instant gratification and appreciation are like air and water for this present generation. No one really cares about the quality, value of the content that they are showcasing to millions of people. Innocent kids who end their life just for not getting likes and views for their content where they are only concentrating on the outcome neglecting the process and effort it takes.

In olden days, Patience and perseverance are two important virtues of our every doing from morning till evening. My memories of waiting for town bus with friends, trying to learn bicycle without any support wheel, waiting for the favorite movie to be telecasted in cable TV, long wait during holidays to see friends, all this helps me to learn being more patience, enjoy waiting and strive hard even without help. This kind of environment is completely lost for the present-day kids.

Today, everything is in reach of a hand & able to get instantly be it a friend’s message/call, wish for a Food, favorite movie in theatres/OTT, even doubt can be clarified without a teacher which made human mind so short lived, always desperate and easily disappointed. In a very fast pace, we are becoming like a computer or robot which performs every task and expects a desired result always as programmed. It will not like or expects to have a different result which will make them confused and not able to process.

“கடமையை செய், பலனை எதிர்பார்காதே”

This important Tamil saying was told hundreds of years back which means do your duty without worrying about the result and it exactly matches for the present-day narrative.

Lets ask ourselves, are we really enjoying being calm, collective and living every step of our journey, the process of life without worrying about the destination. If the answer is No, you have completely rewire the brain to do so…..
